“Come to me, all who are weary or burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
I’m finding healing, thanks in part to regular yoga practice centered in Christ, and I love sharing the mind-body-soul benefits of gentle yoga with others!
In the past 20 years, I have practiced many styles of yoga in studios around the United States. For me, yoga is a great way to de-stress and build muscle strength and flexibility. I practiced prenatal yoga during my three pregnancies and even during labor and delivery. My yoga practice also serves as physical therapy (I am a disabled Army Veteran) since regular yoga practice gives me positive mental benefits for chronic pain management.
I chose to become certified in Yahweh Yoga Christian yoga classes because the style creates a mind-body-soul connection to yoga that I didn’t find while practicing in gyms. As a busy mom and Christian, I love practicing yoga with a prayerful intention focused on God. Divine Breath is a translated name for the Holy Spirit.
I graduated from the 250-hour yoga teacher training program (YYT-250) from Yahweh Yoga Christian Yoga Teaching Academy in Chandler, AZ, a Yoga Alliance registered school and have earned the designation of Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour (RYT-200). I have been trained extensively in postures and alignment and specialize in chair yoga (it’s no joke – you can keep it simple or break a sweat doing chair yoga!) and gentle yoga practices.
With safety in mind, I have certified through the Red Cross in the Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course and carry liability insurance. When practicing any physical activity, listen to your body and consult your physician if you are unsure the activity is appropriate for your health needs.
Founded in the city of Bellbrook, OH, our home-studio overlooked our beautiful wooded retreat for a yard where I practiced yoga and opened Divine Breath Yoga, LLC, to formally share yoga with others on Sept. 5, 2014. In 2017, we relocated to Cape St. Claire in Annapolis, MD, where I started a church yoga ministry, lead senior living chair yoga, offer private and small group beach lessons, and lead yoga retreats. During COVID-19, socially-distanced outdoor classes are offered in our grassy yard – we are stronger, together. I often say, “have yoga mat, will travel,” since I have brought yoga practices to individuals and to groups in North Dakota, Ohio, and the greater Washington, D.C., Fort Meade, and Annapolis areas.
